  Dear manager,

  I learned from the newspaper that your company wanted to hire an English translator.

  Im interested in this job very much. Id like to get this job.

  Now Id like to introduce myself to you. My name is Li Ping. Im 30 years old. Im 180 cm tall. Im healthy. I like swimming, singing and dancing in my spare time. I graduated from Beijing University in 1994.Then,I went to work in Nantong Middle School. In 1996I began to work in Suzhou Middle School and I have worked there until now.

  I work hard and I can get along well with others. Im good at English and especially my spoken English is very good. Ive translated many Chinese books into English. I can understand Japanese and I can talk to foreigners in Japanese freely.

  If you agree with me, Ill work hard and try to be a good translator.

  If you agree with me, please write a letter to me or phone me. I live at No.1 Renmin Road, Suzhou city. My telephone number is 3654371.

  Thank you very much.

  1.对你自己的知识水平、能力和价值做出恰当的评估,陈述你的兴趣和动机;

  2.调查职业、工种和用人方情况并做出评价;

  3.确定自己的求职目的事业目标;

  4.写一份专业水平的简历;

  5.设计并逐步实施你的求职活动;

  6.申请参加面试;

Mr. Richard C. Forest

President

California Oil & Gas

330 Primrose, Suite 310

Burlingame, California 94010

Dear Richard:

The years since Stanford Business School have been varied and fulfilling for me, and I hope they have been the same for you. The enclosed excerpt from Fortune magazine and the copy of my resume will give you a snapshot of what I have been doing until recently. In late 19--, I left the investment advisory business to begin marketing myself for re-entry into the corporate world.

Since leaving Amoco, I have found that I greatly enjoy working in smaller, more entrepreneurial businesses and that’s what I am looking for now. My job target is a position with a high management content, either in operations or in the financial area. Ideally, it would be with a company that is two to ten years old and has sales of $5-$50 million. Although I am not looking for investment opportunities, I might consider a limited investment in the right situation. Geographic location is not a major consideration.

I have some preference to stay in the oil business, but I am not limiting my search to this area. A favorite alternate industry of mine is hazardous waste, however I am open to any situation that is challenging and will make adequate use of my skills.

Should you become aware of any of your business associates, friends, etc., who might be interested in my abilities, I would appreciate your sending them a copy of my resume or letting me have their names so I can contact them personally.

Richard, any assistance or advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Bridge Bobo

Mr. Richard K. Dean

Richard Dean & Associates

Dear Mr. Dean:

Presently, I am concluding a public acquisition for private investors--I selected the prospect, structured financing and negotiated arrangements with previous management, but have declined the permanent CEO position. Instead, I desire to continue to enjoy the "Thrill of the Hunt" in locating, acquiring and building high technology organizations. Several associates have mentioned your firm often represents technology-driven companies with strong growth/acquisition goals, and I understand you are searching now for a CEO or Executive VP who will make your client money.

My diverse background demonstrates exceptional officer-level sales, marketing, financial and leadership abilities in high tech areas:

  --The technical, management, and executive team I identified recruited and trained boosted corporate revenues from $11 to $100 million in only five years, increasing ROI by an astounding 300%.

  --Created a worldwide sales organization (affiliates and reps) in 40 countries and dominated those markets with new technologies in only 1-1/2 years; it took the competition over 3 years to respond.

  --Assembled the capital and designed the equity structure at extremely favorable terms to the founders, completing the project in three quarters of the time called for by the strategic plan.

I enjoy the challenge of creating, building and growing a professional organization. Opportunities and potential are of paramount importance. I would be most pleased to discuss with you and your client how I would quickly duplicate these successes and build on them. Could we talk about it in the next week or ten days? My travel schedule picks up substantially late this month and I’ll be much more difficult to reach.

With enthusiasm,

Richard P. Ruby

          -------------------------------------------------------------------

       1128 2nd Avenue South Edmonds, Washington 98020

October 25, 2005

Mr. Michael B. Dixon

Holland and Hart

P. O. Box 2147

Denver, Colorado 80302

Dear Mike,

I was interested to hear that your firm is considering ways to acquire more capability regarding international business transactions.

As you know, I have worked as an independent consultant these past two years dealing with the business, financial and governmental problems that accompany overseas investments. I have found, however, that companies large enough to have significant international exposure are bombarded by major league players such as:

   a) the large investment banking houses,

  b) major law firms,

  c) consulting firms such as McKinsey and Arthur D. Little,

  d) and, increasingly, by the consulting units operating within the major accounting firms.

It has become pretty clear that marketing my "Lone Ranger Act" in the face of this kind of competition is, at best, a difficult job. For the past few months I’ve been investigating ways to merge my talents into a better known and more broadly based entity. If you are looking for additional arrows to round out Holland and Hart’s quiver of talent, then perhaps we should do some talking.

The many hi-tech firms in the Front Range area are beginning to push into the international arena, and you mentioned that you have already taken steps to strengthen your intellectual property team. These hi-tech groups often face significant trade issues in Washington as well as complex government and financial negotiations abroad.

There are many other exporters in this area--such as the U.S. Meat Exporter Federation (composed of entities such as Monfort)--that are large enough to have real international needs as well.

Some of your "competition" has already mounted a campaign to try to serve these needs--see the attached flyer on "Going International."

The clipping from the Wall Street Journal of October 16, 19-- shows what firms such as Stearns Roger and Morrison-Knudsen are up against internationally. I’ve marked the clipping to show how the things we did for Cuajone parallel what Bechtel is doing now.

The resume information attached after the clippings just mentioned is probably a bit on the over-kill side, but lawyers love to read and it does demonstrate the extent and depth of my international experience.

I expect to travel back east the 6th and 7th of November to talk to Price Waterhouse’s new affiliate partnership that deals in "International Financing Consultancy Services," but will be here Monday, November 5.

Best regards,

Richard P. Ruby

McClain Companies

15 Walnut Street

Philadelphia, PA 12345

Dear Lance:

I am writing to you as a fellow graduate of Hofstra University (class of 2000) and would sincerely appreciate any insight you could provide me into McClain Companies. I have been working in sales for almost five years, and I am now looking to transition into corporate human resources at a company such as yours.

Although successful in my sales career, I have realized the aspects of my work I find most rewarding are all in HR-related functions. The following offers a few highlights of my qualifications:

Solid foundation in HR affairs: As senior account executive, I have been responsible for a number of HR functions, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring and training new employees. A quick learner of complex concepts and legal issues, I am eager to broaden these competencies.

Dynamic communication style: I am adept in building relationships, consensus and a shared sense of purpose. I am known for my ability to quickly establish trust with employees, mediate disputes and motivate others into action.

Experience in corporate training: A constant throughout my sales career has been my passion for the design and delivery of staff-development programs. Comfortable and experienced giving both large- and small-group presentations, I have conducted hundreds of training seminars for diverse audiences across all organizational levels.

If you know of anyone within McClain Companies who might be looking for someone with my qualifications, I would be very grateful for your referral. Thanks in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.

Kind regards,

If you see a job posting online and it sounds exquisitely suited to you, you probably feel compelled to submit not only your resume but a customized cover letter, as well. But job seekers often struggle with constructing an effective cover letter. It’s important to remember that the cover letter, like the resume, is a marketing tool. Use it to show how you can help the company in question. Obviously, different people’s cover letters will look quite different from one another. But here’s a sample of what such a letter might look like.

Dear (insert name or "Hiring Manager" if name is unknown):

Your advertisement on Monster for a (insert job title) fits my experience and qualifications perfectly, and I am writing to express my interest in and enthusiasm for the position. As an accomplished sales leader, I have achieved seven-figure revenue growth, international market penetration and successful product launches for leading global corporations during my career.

In addition to my desire to join your team, you will find I am a dedicated and driven professional whose recent accomplishments include:

  * An increase of international sales from 1 percent of the companys total revenue to 75 percent, capturing more than half of the entire European market and one-third of the Latin American market within two years.

  * Dramatic expansion of customer base, leading to seven-figure revenue growth rates that far exceed the pace of larger, more established competitors.

  * Development of a 75-member dealer network across 30 countries in six continents.

  * Attainment of 100 percent customer retention rate through expert relationship-building skills and a commitment to a solution-focused, service-first sales approach.

  * Launch of a new London office, expected to double sales revenue by 2003.

  * Introduction of three innovative product lines, following comprehensive market research and competitive-intelligence gathering.

Your software products are truly on the cutting edge of technology -- you offer products that can change the way a company conducts business on the Internet. I am excited by this technology and would be able to translate this excitement to a business benefit for your current and future clients. If you agree that my qualifications are a close fit to your needs, I would be delighted to meet with you personally to discuss strategies for expanding (name of company’s) market presence.

I will follow up with you in a few days to answer any questions you may have. In the meantime, you may reach me at (phone number) or via email at (email address). I look forward to our conversation.

Sincerely,

Dina Smith

Dear Mr. (or Ms.) last name,

Start your letter with a grabber—a statement that establishes a connection with your reader, a probing question, or a quotable quote. Briefly say what job you are applying for.

The mid-section of your letter should be one or two short paragraphs that make relevant points about your qualifications. You should not summarize your resume! You may incorporate a column or bullet point format here.

Your last paragraph should initiate action by explaining what you will do next (e.g., call the employer) or instigate the reader to contact you to set up an interview. Close by saying “thank you.”

Sincerely yours,

I was very interested to see your advertisement for a Director of Patient Financial Services in the Philadelphia Inquirer (8-11-01). I have been seeking just such an opportunity as this, and I think my background and your requirements may be a good match. My resume is enclosed for your review.

Of particular note for you and the members of your team as you consider this management placement are my strong accomplishments in reducing outstandings and reorganizing accounting and collections functions to achieve improved operating efficiency internally and improved cashflow for the institution as a whole.

Consider the following:

Reduced A/R days from 110 to 60.4.

Reduced staff by 6.5 FTEs with concurrent increase in total departmental performance.

Reduced patient complaints with simultaneous increase in A/R collected.

Improved cashflow by $1.6 million per month.

Additionally, my contributions have been mainly achieved by improving information flow within the patient financial services function, improving patient financial services utilization of already available MIS services, and improving cooperation between patient services and admissions, UR, contracting, and medical records functions.

After fifteen years in patient accounting, I have a thorough understanding of every aspect of this function in a modern hospital/medical center setting. My current employer is very happy with my performance, but I view myself as somewhat of a troubleshooter, and most of the reorganizations initiated here have already come to fruition, so I am eager to consider new challenges.

If you are seeking a manager who stays abreast of her field, who understands technology, who earns 100% staff support, and who is as career-committed as it takes to achieve total success, then please consider what I have to offer. I would be happy to have a preliminary discussion with you or members of your committee to see if we can establish a mutual interest. I will call you within the week to answer any initial questions you may have, and to hear about your hiring process.

Thank you for your attention to these materials. I certainly look forward to exploring this further.

Yours truly,

Brenda J. Wilson

Dear Mr. Randall,

There’s a reason why:

? Friends hand me the dinner bill to divvy up

? My checkbook always balances at the end of each month

? My three kids are never late for events

? Community groups look to me to organize events

I’m a “detail person” — the kind of person you need as your administrative assistant.

For the last five years, I’ve handled all the scheduling, finances, and logistics for my family of five. It’s time for me to get back into the corporate work force and put my organizational talents to use there.

I’ll contact you in the next few days to see if you or one of your associates needs an assistant.

    jxue.com    336    2-7

    jxue.com    442    2-7

  1.对你自己的知识水平、能力和价值做出恰当的评估,陈述你的兴趣和动机;

  2.调查职业、工种和用人方情况并做出评价;

  3.确定自己的求职目的事业目标;

  4.写一份专业水平的简历;

  5.设计并逐步实施你的求职活动;

  6.申请参加面试;

    jxue.com    656    2-7

  4.写一份专业水平的简历;

  5.设计并逐步实施你的求职活动;

  6.申请参加面试;

  写求职信的理由;

  从何处得悉招聘信息、你的申请目的、加入企业的原因,你要申请什么职位;

  做自我介绍,说明你为什么适合申请的职位,提出你能为未来雇主做些什么;

General Electric Company

200 Electric Drive

Troy, NY 17729

Dear Mr. Carter:

I am seeking a position as a Facilitator for Total Quality Management in a firm already using TQM, or one just beginning TQM implementation.

Beginning with BS and MS degrees in engineering and following with 15 years experience with Westinghouse, I have built a solid career foundation in shop operations, manufacturing engineering and plant management.

Three years ago I became convinced of the potential of Total Quality Management and began some TQM initiatives with the Electric Motors Division. This proved highly successful but, due to recent budget cutbacks, many of the resources targeted for further implementation of these programs have been temporarily frozen.

I am now seeking an opportunity to continue my efforts with a company that has a firm commitment to Total Quality implementation. I have much to contribute, and would welcome the change.

Should you have an appropriate opening on your quality management staff, I would appreciate the opportunity to explore employment possibilities with you. Thank you for your consideration.

                                                                       Sincerely,

                                                             Wanda R. Richardson(手写体)

Dear Mr. Klein:

I am seeking an Operations Management position at the plant, division or corporate level with a major player in the food and beverage industry. Please consider my credentials.

As my resume will show, I have had excellent progression in the field of Operations Management with one of the top U.S. consumer products companies. Pepsi-Cola, as you may know, has been ranked by Fortune magazine among the top 6 best run companies in America.

In my current posit on as Group Plant Manager (3 plants) for Pepsi West I have been

credited with annual cost savings exceeding $2 m ion as the result of several innovative cost reduction programs recently implemented. I have just been awarded Pesi’s coveted "High Performer Award" for my contributions.

Prior assignments have been equally productive, and I have consistently demonstrated the ability to achieve superior results. I pride myself on staying current in all major new developments in the field of Operations and push hard for the implementation of those that will readily increase ease of operations and reduce operating costs.

Should you be in the market for a proven contributor as a member of your Operations Team, Mr. Klein, your time would be well spent in meeting with me. Much of what I have already done at Pepsi might well be transferable to Redding Beverage, and could result in substantial savings to your company.

Should you wish to contact me, I can be reached during the day at (216) 377-0925, or at the above number during evening hours.

Thank you for your consideration.

    jxue.com    705    2-8

I am writing to express my interest in the Sales Manager position advertised on your Web site. I have enclosed a copy of my resume for your review."

I am confident that these combined experiences make me an ideal candidate for this position."

I strongly believe I possess the right combination of skills and experience you are looking for"
