Abstract e.g. Abstract This paper analyses the factors causing the lack of learning motivation of non-English majors, regarded as one of the crucial reasons leading to the inefficiency of college English teaching in China. It also puts forward corresponding ways to motivate non-English majors to study English. From How to Motivate Non-English Majors to Master English, Teaching English in China (issue 36, December, 1999)
Abstract Chinese given names, best considered lexical, rather than onomastic, items, often reflect political, social, and cultural conditions at the time of naming. An investigation of the given names of four groups of Chinese students born in 1966, 1973, 1979, and 1981 reveals great differences between the names of those born early in the Cultural Revolution and those born later. The investigation also reveals differences between names for males and females (reflecting differing cultural expectations for the two sexes) and a recent trend toward one-character given names. From Names Vol.37, No.3 September 1989 C. Key words Three to five words that can best reflect the main idea of the paper. Key words are usually nouns. D. Introduction This part usually explains the writer’s motive, intention or purpose in discussing his or her topic, and its scope and focus. It also provides the background or the situation the reader may need. In other words, the introduction should make clear why the writer chooses to write such a paper and how much he or she intends to cover. It may raise some questions the paper is going to answer , or put forward the view or views it is going to elaborate. It may also make clear the method or methods of research the writer intends to adopt in the paper. Generally speaking, the introduction should present some rough ideas of the paper and arouse the future reader’s interest. It need not be too long, one or two paragraphs should be enough. E. Body 即正文部分。和Abstract、 Key word, Introduction等不同,body一词不要出现在论文中。正文至少应分三个部分。每部分可再分为几个小部分。每部分可有小标题,也可以没有。如自Introduction 起编号,正文中的章可依次编为2,3,4… 每章下的小节可依次编为2.1, 2.2, 2.3… 3.1, 3.2… 3.1.1, 3.1.2…。从Introduction 到Conclusion 也可以罗马字编号I,II,III… 请注意编号的统一。 F.Conclusion The conclusion should in some way be connected with the introduction. It is a summary or restatement of the point of view put forward, or an answer to the question posed, in the introduction. Like Introduction, Conclusion should not be too long. G. Notes The students are required to use endnotes. The notes should be numbered and put before Bibliogrpahy. H.Bibliography 又称 Works Cited或 References. 具体规范请参考公开出版物或英语写作手册。如参考材料为中文,作者名、书名、杂志名、出版地、出版社等均须译成英文并依作者姓的英文字母与国外参考书作者混合排列。Source要详尽,排列要规范。参考书目不得少于6篇。 以下几点应特别注意: Bibliography: —Bibliographic entries are arranged in alphabetical order by the author’s family name or, if anonymous, by title (ignore “a”, “an”,and “the”when they are the first word in a title).
