1999年《大学英语教学大纲》对四级听力的具体要求是：能听懂英语讲课，并能听懂题材熟悉、句子结构比较简单、基本上无生词、语速为每分钟130～150个单词的简短会话、谈话、报道或讲座，掌握其中心大意，抓住要点和有关细节，领会讲话者的观点和态度。听力试题一遍可以听懂，理解的准确率应不低于70％。
听力部分测试分为三部分
1．对话部分是日常生活中的一般对话，即衣、食、住、行、工作、学习等话题，可分为校园、公共场所、家庭等方面。
2．短篇听力材料是题材熟悉、情节不太复杂的故事、讲话、叙述、对话等，如动物介绍、地区及大学情况介绍等。短文主要考查考生对文章大意、中心思想、重要细节的理解与领会，以及根据所获取的相关信息，对文中的某些细节作出联想、判断，也有就短文中的某一事实和人物进行提问的题目。
3．复合式听写是最近几年四级考试改革的一个重要内容，其目的是为了能够客观地检测学生的听力水平。它包括对理解能力（即“听”）和一定的书面表达能力（即“写”）这两方面的测试。
复习方法
1．扎实的语言基本功
听力理解技巧是建立在听力理解水平基础上的，而听力理解水平是通过听力理解能力来体现的，它包括记忆和回想的能力、选择要点的能力、推断演绎的能力、判断和得出结论的能力以及运用背景知识的能力。词汇主要涉及如何处理“生词”的问题，即利用上下文、同位语猜词的能力和一词多义的辨别能力。语法主要包括那些最基本的语法现象，如时态、语态、虚拟语气、比较级、最高级、否定式和说话人的口气等。语音、语调、词汇、语法是语言的基本要素，对它们的熟练掌握是打好语言基本功的关键。
2．预测、综合判断能力
总体来说听力技巧包括听前、听中和听后的准备，实施过程和相应的预测、记忆以及综呵判断能力。听前预测是指从所给的文字材料和答案选项等线索中发现一些背景信息，力求缩小谈话者的话题，它能帮助考生搞清所听内容的类型和结构甚至主题。考生听的时候可避免过分注重每个单词从而影响对全篇中心思想的理解。考生应抢时间阅读试卷上的选项，争取主动，以便在听音时有针对性。听前预测有一定的客观依据，即话题所使用的词语的范围，这种内容越具体范围就越窄。不管什么人说话都有一定的逻辑性，这种逻辑性又具有共性，受过一定教育的人是可以把握的。也就是说通过阅读选项我们可以推测听力材料可能涉及到什么题材和它的内容。听的过程中要强化记忆，对所听的内容进行联想，并对所听到的内容进行适当的加工，对整体和细节不可偏废。重视整体的题目是询问对话或短文的中心思想，因此千万要有整体概念，不要只记细节而忽视整体。听完后必须对所听到的内容进行分析、综合、推理、判断，挑选和问题有关的信息，放弃无用的。
3．学会用英语思维
听的时候尽量避免将每个单词和句子翻译成汉语，这样做一是浪费时间，二是影响理解，因为两种语言的结构和思维不尽相同，不是所有的英语都有相对等的汉语。在短暂的15秒钟内，既要听，又要理解、翻译，还要进行综合判断，这是不太可能的，弄不好会影响以后的听力理解。最好的办法是逐渐培养用英语思维，不但可以节约时间还可以提高理解力。
4．有关学科及社会背景知识
语言是人们进行交际的手段，社会生活的变化、科技的普及发展、一国的文化历史传统、生活方式、地理气候环境以及人们的思维方式都要反映到语言之中。具备一点背景知识对所听的对话和短文会有一种熟悉感，一个更深刻的理解，甚至能弥补语言上的一些不足。我们都知道英语和汉语是两种截然不同的语言，考生若对西方的社会文化因素不了解，缺少足够的有关学科知识，只是用我们所熟悉的思维、逻辑去判断对话或短文，就很可能出错。

四级考试听力技巧
（一） 听力题型分析
Ｉ、Ａ节（section Ａ）
１、 问题类型
Ａ节每组对话一般是在一男一女之间进行的一问一答。问题一般由先讲话的人提出。题目均以问句形式出现，其中多数是特殊疑问句。这些问题涉及的内容大致归纳如下：
Ａ、多用来问以下内容：
１） 问"是什么、要什么、讨论什么、什么种类"等，如：
What is the man's answer?
What
does the woman want for lunch?
What
are they talking about?
What kind
of books does the man want to borrow?
２）
问"做什么"，如：
What does the woman tell the

３） 问"什么含义"，如：

４） 问"从对话中能获得什么信息或结论"，如：

Ｂ、Ａ节中用提出的问题主要问"对话可能是在什么场所发生的"，即：

Ｃ、可能问以下几个方面的情况：
１） 问钟点（可用替换），如：
Man (M): What time did yesterday's football
match start?

２） 问在哪个星期或星期几（后者可用替换），如：
W: I thought to go to town now. I have

３） 问日期，如：

Ｄ、用提问的问题可以问原因，也可以问目的，如：
Why is the man late?
Why did the man repair the car by himself?
Ｅ、可能问对话者某一方的身份、对话人之间的关系或对话中涉及到的其他人的情况，如：
W: May I help you ,Sir?
M: I hope so. It's my watch. I brought
it in to be repaired, but I've lost the
Receipt.

Ｆ、主要针对以下内容提问：
１） 问做某事的方式、方法或使用的交通工具，如：
How did the teacher usually begin his class?
How does the man usually go to work?
２） 问"对某事的感受如何"，如：
How does the man feel about the movie?
How do you like the film?
Ｇ、问"多少"，属于涉及数字的题，可能有以下几种形式：
How many persons ...?
How many dozens of ... does ... want?
How much does ...?
How old is ...?
How long does it take ... to ...?
Ａ节的问句根据疑问词划分，大致可以归为以上七类。Ａ节中偶尔也有个别一般疑问句。但也可能出现其它类型的问句，（如以Whom,Whose,Which提问），或针对以上未归纳的内容进行提问。
２、 对话内容分类
若按对话内容分类，则可分为以下几种类型：
Ａ、时间类：包括直接型和计算型。如：
W:
Your library books are due on December 13th. If you have not finished
using them by then, you may renew them once.
M:
Thank you very much . I only need them for a few days.
Q: When must the man return his books to

Ｂ、数字类：包括直接型和计算型。如：
W: Do you live in a college dormitory?

Ｃ、地点类：包括直接型和含蓄型。如：
M: I need to cash this check?
W: Will you step right over to the teller's

Ｄ、否定类：
此类对话既可以含有not,no,neither,nor等否定词，也有 but,although等转折词，或由would rather,too...to结构及虚拟语气等表达。因此，对于后者要特别加以注意。如：
M: Ann, do you have any extra money you could
loan me?
W: I wish I could help
you. I went shopping yesterday. Now I have only two dollars till the
end of the week.
Q: Will the man
borrow any money from the woman?
此题的答案肯定是No。听这段话时要抓住I
wish I could help you.这一关键话语。这句话虽然从表面上看是肯定式，但却隐含着I'm sorry I can't
help you.的意思。
人物类：
包括人物关系、人物身份两类。此类对话提供一个情节，能反映所涉及的人的关系或身份。如：
M:
Good evening, Madam. There is a table for two over there. This way,
please.
W: Thank you. Could I
see the menu, please?
Q: What's
the relationship between the man and woman?
A)
Husband and wife. B) Waiter and customer.

Ｆ、活动类：
这一类谈话内容可涉及上课、娱乐、工作、日常生活等各种
情况。如：
W: Are you going to New York next weekend?
M: Yes, I'm going to look up Bill while I'm
there.
Q: What's the man going
to do?
这类对话中往往先后出现几种情况，要注意听问句是什么，然后再作出选择。
３、 几种常见的解题方法
Ａ节中的对话虽然简短，但多数情况下，往往不能从听到的内容中找到与选择项内容完全相同的部分，即对话中一般没有现成的答案。因此，在听的时候要注意抓住选择项的同义或反义词（组）用辨别法答题（解活动类多用此方法），或根据对话内容采用归纳、推论或辨别的方法回答。用这种方法答题，类型不仅仅限于诸如"what
does the man mean?"这样的题目，其它如含蓄人物类、人物身份类、含蓄地点类、否定类题目也与此类似。如：
W: How do you like the play you saw last
night?
M: Well, I should have
stayed at home.
Q: What does the
man think of the play?
A) It is
exciting. B) It is boring.
C)
He didn't see the play. D) He like it very much.
对话中"I
should have stayed at home."（我真该待在家里），这句话已婉转地表明他不喜欢这出戏，而对没有待在家里表示遗憾、后悔（should
have done something这种结构可用来表示"对应该发生而实际上没有发生的事情表示遗憾、后悔或谴责）。能使他产生此感想的原因自然是"The
play is boring."（演出令人厌烦），因而Ｂ是正确的答案。否定类题目多含有虚拟语气、语气否定、暗示比喻、强化意见等形式。这一节属于此数字类题目的对话中，多出现两处，甚至三、四处数字或时间，因此，除了用辨别方法外，有时必须用计算方法才能得出正确答案。
II、Ｂ节（Section B）
Ｂ节通常有三篇听力材料。其中较短的约１５０词，较长的约２００词。材料本身难度不算太大，关键在于能否听懂大意、抓住要点、记住主要情节。短文后面的问题大都是特殊疑问句。问题多问关于短文的主题、有关讲话人的情况、事实与细节、事情的因与果等，有时要求根据短文的内容作出其它推论。
大体说来，Ｂ节的题目比较客观、直接。这是因为Ｂ节的题目涉及的多是具体事实（问暗含意义或要求推论的题目很少），并且答案常常可以从听力材料中直接获得。对于这类题目，只要听懂短文，选出正确答案是轻而易举的。能否顺利完成Ｂ节的试题，主要取决于能否在一系列语句中抓住答题所需的那些关键词句。
（二） 如何阅读选择项
因为听力理解的问题不是以书面形式出现在卷面上，而是在讲话内容之后才出现，所以，我们必须抓住空隙时间抢先阅读选择项。这样便可以根据选择项的内容预测谈话或短文的内容和提问形式，提前了解谈话或短文中可能出现的单词或词组。只有这样，在听音时才能有目的地听、有选择地记。
对待选择项应采取快速阅读的方法。在听音前看选择项主要应用略读技巧。一定要避免逐词阅读，否则就不可能在听音前看完选择项。选择项的长短、简繁不一，具体处理方法也要有所不同。
选择项都比较短时，可采用扫视法。用眼光扫过选择项，大体了解其内容。
当选择项较长时（Ｂ节的选择项往往较长），可分两步处理。第一步，整体看，以发现其共同成分；第二步，采用竖读方法，着重看区别。选择项（尤其是较长的选择项）各项之间往往有相同的内容。应先整体扫视选择项，很快发现其共同处，然后将视线移到各项不同之处进行竖读（即由上向下看，而不是由左向右看）。
用这样的方法看选择项，开始可能会感到不习惯，因而影响阅读速度。但经过一段时间的练习，便会习惯。掌握这种技巧，不仅能加快阅读速度，使我们能在较短的时间看完较长的阅读项，而且能使我们对选择项的共同与不同部分印象更深刻，这对确定听音重点十分重要，因而，在平时就要注意训练提高这种技巧，使之成为习惯。若平时习惯逐词逐句地读，考试时就难以纠正，当然就无法熟练运用这种技巧。
需要说明的是，上面所说的只是一种技巧，不一定适用于所有情况。但快速是原则。
（三）如何预测问题的类型和内容
虽然在听音之前很难确定题目的确切内容，但选择项的结构和内容往往暗示问题的类型和大致内容。有些题的选择项很有特点，非常明显地反映出其问题的类型。例如：看到这样的选择项时：
A) At the airport.
B)
In a restaurant.
C) At the railway
station.
D) In a department store.
完全可以肯定此问题问的是。又如，选择项为：
显然这一题问的是，再分析一下选择项之间的关系，之间各相差３０
分钟，这就说明此题是加减题，这四个时间只有一个会被提到，而答案则是被提到的时间加减３０分钟。
虽然不是所有的选择项都会像以上两例这样明显地反映问题的类型，选择项的语言结构往往可以提示问题的类型，其对应关系大致如下：

这些对应关系都是相对而言的，仅供参考。选择项的语言结构比较灵活，没有固定的格式。有时增减某些成分并不改变其性质。以上面第三条为例，如果选择项中只有钟点而没有介词，问题类型还是。
另外，同一类题目可能有不同的表达方式。比如，一般用来问原因或目的，但也可以用，或来提问。这些表达方式虽不同，意义并不改变。

四级考试“复合式听写”
全国“大学英语四级统考于97年6月首次采用了“复合式听写”（Compound
Dictation）这一题型，它比听力选择题更强调语言综合运用能力，考生不仅要具有良好的听的能力，还应具有较强的拼写能力，记笔记能力和书面表达能力，听的能力是“复合式听写”的基础，听写训练已有较多的书刊进行过介绍和研究。笔者打算结合自己的教学体会谈谈如何提高“复合式听写”的能力和应试方法。
1．通过卷面文字捕捉信息，找出线索、了解大意
“复合式听写”材料多为说明文（Exposition），这一体裁的文章具不主题突出，条理分明，层次清楚、语言简洁、逻辑性强的特点。文章的开头或段首多半有主题句（topic
sentence），之后的段、句进一步具体扩展、说明或论证主题句。根据“复合式听写”样题，听写第二部分二、三自然段首和段尾均有完整的主题句。考生应利用一切机会，如考前空隙或播放考试指令时间，浏览试卷该项下文字部分，尤其是主题句，根据主题句预测文章发展线索和大意。
以样题为例，根据第二段未题句“Often people like to take
with them a gift for the host''s wife of a party they have been invited
to.”及""Again, you may choose something for the host's wife
alone or for the entire family.""
考生不难推测所记要点应是作客时，客人应带些什么礼品及所赠对象，而决不会涉及作客时应穿什么样的服装或到、离主人家时间等方面的内容，这样便增强了考生对文章的认知度）熟悉感。缩小了内容范围，考生听音时更具针对性和准确性，心理放松，更为自信，使自己在考试中处于主动地位。
即使“复合式听写”材料为其它体裁的文章，听音前浏览下试题也大大有裨益。因为文章具有一致性和连贯性的特点，从试题中我们总会搜索到一些有参考价值的材料。
2，听写结合，双管齐下
根据“复合式听写”新题型通知说明，第一遍是全文朗读，要求考生注意听懂全文内容。由于听音前考生已测览了卷面文字，对听力材料有了大致的了解，因此听读第一遍时，考生可以适当地填写些单词和做些笔记，听为主，记为辅，要做好“复合式听写”，考生需多多实践，获取较强的边听边记能力。听音贯穿着期待、预知、分析、综合。推理和判断等一系列过程，考生应同时快速记下几个关键词，而在记笔记时，又要能有效；专注地去听，获取信息理解全文。
听写中边听边记具有必要性，听为手段，写为目的；听和记两种不同的语言技能在‘复合式听写”中有着紧密的联系，相互促进。第一遍记下关键词有助于第二遍听写时启发记忆，提示要点，同时也减轻了第二遍笔记的任务，使笔记更加充实、完整，依次与出的内容要点才会更加全面、准确。另一方面，边听边记也具有可行性，试想学主听外籍教师上课，听了一遍不是也可记下授课要点吗？只要多加练习，其实也不难做到。
3．提高记笔记的效率
一般考生听完两汤基本可听懂句意；但只凭记忆写要点，往往容易有疏漏和错误。足够信息量的笔记是写好要点的重要条件；但如何在有限的时间内记录下更多的内容呢？这里介绍几种方法。
首先，可使用缩略语。仍以样题为例，可用esp.代especially，sth代something,apprec代appreciation等。没有缩略语的词汇，如字母较少的单词，可完整写出该词，如gift,take，字母较多的单词（只写该词前几个字母；这里的基本要求是快速；省时，并能表达含义。缩略语不一定要求规范，甚室可用些符号，所记内容不一定要求完整，只要能起到提示的作用，自己能看懂就行了。
其次，由于“复合式听写”第二部分朗读时没有停顿，即使使甩缩略语也难记下全文，因此考生应有选择地记笔记。英语中实词具有表意功能，而虚词多具语法功能，所记词应以实词为主。
另外，因为“复合式听写”第二部分只要求写出内容要点，这样考生应重点记下句中的中心词。(同样以样题为例）短语a
thank-you gift、greatly appreciated和quite acceptable中的定、状语便可略去不记。
通过这几种方法，考生大大压缩了所记的词语，赢得了时间，精练了内容，增大了笔记的信息量，为写好内容要点创造了条件。
4.书面表达内容要点
“复合式听写”全文朗读两遍后停顿五分钟，让考生根据所听和所记内容写出第二部分主要意思。答题时，考生应针对以上内容及第一部分和第二部分的主题句进行诊折、判断，概括。文章要点显然不可缺漏，但也无需有闻必录，多多益善，考生应分清主次，有所取爱，从这个意义上说，“复合式听写”还要求考生具有一定的逻辑分析。归纳能力。文字表达应简洁、通顺、准确。分析样题参考答案，我们不难发现它有以下特点：
1)将内容要点分列为几点，清楚明白，一目了然。
2)要点尽可能用完整的简单句表达，不宜用短语，句式也不宜过手复杂。
3)尽量省去语句中可有可无的修饰成份。
总而言之，考生应用有限的词语简洁明了地概括出所听内容的全部要点，使内容要点和语言表达达到有机的完美统一。
5．检查、核对内容要点
“复合式听写”第三遍朗读供考生进行核对，核对是最后必不可少的环节，考生应抓住时机弥补前两遍听音时所忽略或遗漏的内容，进一步修改和完善自己的答案。
听写第一部分要求考生填人所缺单词，有时考生只凭辩音仍难以准确地判断出应为何词，此时考生可运用自己的语言知识，修正听力细节上的不足。主要可以从语法结构，词语搭配、意义连贯、上下文等多角度去推测。分析和判断；并正确拼写出单词。而在核对听写第二部分内容要点表达时、则应注意力求要点完整、准确，尽量减少语言中语法、拼写等错误。
听写是一种有效的综合性测试，可以考查学生词汇量、拼写、句法、听力、理解、记笔记和一定的书面表达等多方面的要素和技能，研究人员发现听写成绩与许多其它技能的相关系数很高。笔者深信全面打好语言基本功是提高听写能力的重要途径，但听写训练具有自身的科学性和技巧性，多练加巧练则定可取得事半功倍的成效。

四级考试阅读技巧
- 阅读理解方法
阅读理解是综合读者各方面知识的过程。要想快捷，准确的理解所阅读的语篇，我们要清具备什么样的能力，理解的过程，阅读的层次，阅读的目的，阅读技能等。
学会阅读意味着我们具备以下的能力:
- 理解作者的思想和观点。
- 看出文章的叙事或推论过程。
- 看出并思考所读文章的细节，获的详细的信息。
- 把已获得的信息保在大脑中以便随时使用。
- 看出作者的主要意图和文章的基调。
- 从有关资料中汲取有用的东西。
- 对非重要情节或信息一带而过。
- 根据阅读目的和材料的难易程度调整阅读速度和方法。
- 根据作者的描述的出自己的结论。
- 掌握词的多种含义的知识。
另外，我们也想在此强调指出：我们不能盲目的应用快读“技巧”，而应该根据不同情况调整阅读速度。如：对场景，人物性格，人物心理刻画要细读。其中最重要的一点就是要知道在什么时候快读，什么时候慢读。要提高阅读速度，正确的阅读方法是问题的关键。
1. 你是否善于阅读 为了正确的评价自己的阅读能力，我们可以对照检验一下自己在阅读时是否有以下影响阅读效率的行为，但第2
，3条，得在你不注意时，别人观察你。
- 你是否读的非常慢，非常仔细，不相信自己能全部理解所读的东西。
- 阅读时你的嘴唇和舌头是否在动。
- 在阅读时你的头是否随着所读文字的符号的位置而左右移动。
- 你是否经常回读，即，读过的东西又重新读一遍，甚至几遍。
- 你是否读什么样的体裁都是一样的速度。
- 你是否有很多单词不认识，或不知道他在此处的含义。
如果对上述的问题回答是肯定的，那你确实需要提高阅读技能。如果只有一两项的回
答是肯定的，那你就需要针对这一两种不良习惯寻找有效的解决方法，以帮住你提高阅读能力。
2.扩大词汇量
有限的词汇量必然影响你的阅读能力提高。生词的含义只有在上下文中才能完全展现出来，并易于被记住、理解、掌握。换句话说，是上下文给一个词以特定的含义，而这个特定的含义往往是字典无法提供的。
不少教师鼓励学生背句子、段落、整片文章，都是出于同一目的，即：要学生在上下文中理解并掌握词汇和短语。
II．阅读的目的
阅读一般应该达到下列目的
- 了解作者要表达的主要思想；
- 了解文章的本栏目内容链接: 和次要内容，并能把他们区分开来；
- 了解并记住文章中最重要的内容；
- 了解文章结构以及事件发生的时间、空间顺序；
- 了解作者的观点、意图、写作风格及其偏见等；
- 用自己的阅历和知识对文章进行分析、评价，得出自己的体会；
在读完一篇文章之后，想一想上述所列出的六项阅读目的，看看你能达到那几项目的。
III．阅读技能和方法
1．技能
- 阅读不是一个被动的过程，而是一个积极主动的过程，它需要大量的脑力活动，这就是说，一篇文章的意义不在于材料的本身，而是我们与材料不断交流活动的结果。我们把新知识和旧知识联系起来，以便完整的理解文章得意义，这种引申意义的脑力活动不仅仅是对词汇意义的解码，而是对文章的全面理解。
- 阅读是一个判断、推理、归纳、总结的过程。我们需要把分散于文章中的各种信息联系起来，经过必要的判断、推理、得出自己对文章的认识。
- 阅读是一个心理语言猜测活动。也就是说，一个好的读者总是猜测下文是什麽，然后用作者所给的信息检验自己的预测是否正确。如果预测正确就开始下一个预测，如果错误，必须修正原来的假想。
2． 方法
人们阅读时总是从左到右，从上一行到下一行，从词到词组到句子到段落，这一过程给人的感觉是人的眼睛总是在不停的移动。其实不然，科学家发现，阅读时人的眼睛不是持续的移动，而是跳跃式移动，94%的时间眼睛是静止的，6%的时间在跳跃。两次跳跃的时间称为一次“注目”，约四分之一秒，每次注目看到的单词因人而异，儿童大约是半个单词，一般读者是一二个单词，较好的读者是二三个单词。在实际阅读中，人的眼睛以词群为单位跳跃，即相关的词往往在一次注目中看到。既然阅读时人的眼睛跳跃式移动，用铅笔或手指着书上每一行左右移动，一边阅读一边念出声、一边读一边字翻译都是没有用的。因为这些动作的速度与眼睛跳跃的速度不一致，再加上他们分散一些注意力，因而不仅影响阅读速度，也影响阅读理解的程度。
IV．如何对待阅读中的生词
对阅读中遇到的生词最好的方法是通过上下文猜测。以下几条建议可帮助你猜测词义：
- 看看上下文中有没有生词的另一种说法，即找同义词。有时下文会对一个词做解释，或者提供一些暗示。
- 看看生词在文章中的词性，即看这个是名词、动词、形容词、副词或其他词类。另外看看这个词在文中与那些词搭配使用，再根据自己的其他知识，就可以进行正确的猜测了。
- 分析生词的构成，尤其是词的前缀和后缀。英语中很多词都是加前缀和后缀而来的。比如你认识这两个词write和similar，根据前缀re--和后缀--ity的含义，你就可以准确的猜出rewrite和similarity这两个词的意思。
- 看看同一生词是否在上下文的其他地方出现，把两处的语竟相比较，也许更能准的猜出词义。
- 充分利用你关于所阅读的内容已有的知识。
- 利用文中所附的插图等直观线索猜测词义。
V． 推论--找出文章中隐含意思
为了目的，作者往往不直接说出文章的意思，而是含蓄的表达。这种隐含的意思有时是文章的主要意思。所以阅读文学作品经常需要推论。有时一句话的含义需要推论，有时整个文章的含义需要推论。以下几条建议可以帮助你推论：
- 结合作者的思想、观点及其创作目的、创作背景进行推论。
- 寻找作者直接陈述的诸多事件之间的联系。
- 仔细体会一些重要词的含蓄意义及其感情色彩。比如politician和statesman的意思都是“政客家”，但前者有贬义的色彩，即“政客”，后者则没有。
- 从作者的语气、语调、措辞等文体特征，读出作者的“言外之意”。
- 得出推论后，尽量从上下文中寻找证据。
- 充分利用自己的各方面的知识，把文章中所述的事件和自己的阅历或熟悉的事情联系起来思考。
VI． 如何找出文章中心思想
为了便于找出文章的中心思想，阅读中你可以思考以下问题：
- 文章是否表明了有关社会生活的重要东西？它是否帮助你形成新的生活观？
- 文章是否表普遍真理？
- 你同意文章的中心思想和观点吗？
VII．做题时应注意的问题
- 精读问题及选择项，仔细品味问题的所指及选项之间意思的差别，切勿望文生义，草率处之。
- 做完同一篇文章后￥应综合看一下你的选择，因为，它们也许是紧密相关的。
- 选择与所提问的内容针对性强的选择项作为正确答案。
- 考生的知识与常识也可以帮助他接受或拒绝一些选择项。

猜词技巧
在英语阅读中，我们自然会遇到许多生词。这时，许多人立即翻阅字典，查找词义。其实，这种做法是不科学的。它不但费时费力，而且影响阅读速度。事实上，阅读材料中的每个词与它前后的词语或句子甚至段落有着互相制约的关系。我们可以利用语境（各种已知信息）推测、判断某些生词的词义。猜测词义时，可利用以下线索：
一 针对性解释
针对性解释是作者为了更好的表达思想，在文章中对一些重要的概念、难懂的术语或词汇等所作的解释。这些解释提供的信息具有明确的针对性，利用它们猜词义比较容易。
1． 根据定义猜测词义
如果生词是句子或段落所解释的定义，理解句子或段落本身就是推断词义。例如：
anthropology is the scientific study of man.
由定义可知，anthropology就是“研究人类的科学”。
In slang the term "jam" constitutes
a state of being in which a person finds himself or herself in a difficult
situation.
同样，从上下文的定义可知jam一词在俚语中的意思是“困境”。
定义句的谓语动词多为：be, mean, deal with, be considered,
to be, refer to,be called, be known as, define, represent, signify,
constitute等。
2.根据复述猜测词义
虽然复述不如定义那样严谨、详细，但是提供的信息足以使阅读者猜出生词词义。
复述部分可以适当词、短语或是从句。
同位语
Semantics, the study of the meaning of words,

此例逗号中短语意为“对词意义进行研究的学科”。该短语与前面生词semanties式
同位关系，因此我们不难猜出semanties指“语义学”。
在复述中构成同位关系的两部分之间多用逗号连接，有时也使用破折号，冒号，分号，引号，和括号等。

根据举例猜测词义
恰当的举例能够提供猜测生词的重要线索，例如：
The consequences of epochal
events such as wars and great scientific discoveries are not confined
to a small geographical area as they were in the past. 句中“战争”和“重大科学发现”是生词的实例，通过它们我们可以猜出epochal的大致词义“重要的”，这与其确切含义“划时代的”十分接近。
二 内在逻辑关系
根据内在逻辑关系推测词义是指运用语言知识分析和判断相关信息之间存在的逻辑关系,然后根据逻辑关系推断生词词义或大致义域。
1． 根据对比关系猜测词义
在一个句子或段落中，有对两个事物或现象进行对比性的描 述，我们可以根据生词或难词的反义词猜测其词义。例如：
Andrew is one of the most
supercilious men I know. His brother, in contrast,is quite humble
and modest.
该例中supercilious对许多人来说可能是个生词，但是句中短语in contrast，（相对照的，相对比的）可以提示我们supercilious和后面词组humble
and modest（谦卑又谦虚）是对比关系。分析出这种关系后，我们便能猜出supercilious意为“目空一切的，傲慢的”。
表示对比关系的词汇和短语主要是unlike，not，but，however，despite，in
spite of，in contrast 和while 引导的并列句等。
A good supervisor can recognize instantly the adept workers from the
unskilled ones.
该句中并未出现上面提到的表示对比关系的词或短语，但是通过上下文可以判断出句子前后是对比关系，即把熟练工人与非熟练工人区分开。这时我们也能够推断出生词adept的词义，“熟练的”。
2． 根据比较关系猜测词义
同对比关系相反，比较关系表示意义上的相似关系，例如：
Green loves to talk，and
his brothers are similarly loquacious.
该句中副词similarly表明短语loves to talk与生词loquacious之间的比较关系。以此可以推断出loquacious词义为“健谈的”。
表示比较关系的词和短语主要是similarly，like，just
as，also等。
3． 根据因果关系猜测词义
在句子或段落种，若两个事物、现象之间构成因果关系，我们可以根据这种逻辑关系推知生词词义。例如：
Tom is considered an autocratic
administrator because he makes decisions without seeking the opinions
of others.
根据原因状语从句的内容，我们可以推断出生词autocratic指“独断专行的”。
There were so many demonstrators in the Red Square that he had to
elbow his way through the crowd. 此句为结果状语从句，根据从句的描书“许多示威者”，我们便可推知elbow的词意“挤，挤过”。
4． 根据同义词的替代关系猜测词义
在句子或段落种，我们可以利用熟悉的词语，根据语言环境推断生词词义。例如：
Although he often had
the opportunity, Mr. Tritt was never able to steal money from a customer.
This would have endangered his position at the bank,and he did not
want to jeopardize his future.
作者为避免重复使用endanger一词，用其同义词jeopardize来替代它，由此推知其词义为“使. . . 陷入危险，危及、危害”。
Doctors believe that smoking
cigarettes is detrimental to your health. They also regard drinking
as harmful.
句中detrimental四个生词，但判断出harmful替代detrimental后，不难推断出其词义为“不利的，有害的”。
三 外部相关因素
外部相关因素是指篇章(句子或段落)以外的其他知识。有时仅靠分析篇章内在逻辑关系无法猜出词义。这时,就需要运用生活经验和普通常识确定词义。例如：
Husband：it's really cold
out tonight.
Wife: Sure it is. My hands are practically numb.
How about lighting the furnace?
根据生活经验，天气寒冷时，手肯定是“冻僵的，冻得麻木的”。
The
snake slithered through the grass.
根据有关蛇的生活习性的知识，我们可以推断出slither词义为“爬行”。
在猜测词义过程中，除了使用上面提到的一些技巧，我们还可以依靠构词方面的知识，从生词本身猜测词义。

根据前缀猜测词义 例如：
He fell into a ditch and lay there, semiconscious, for a few minutes.
根据词根conscious（清醒的，有意识的），结合前缀semi（半，部分的，不完全的），
我们便可猜出semiconscious词义“半清醒的，半昏迷的”。

词根literate意为“有文化修养的，通晓的”，前缀il表示否定，因此illiterate指
“一窍不通，不知道的”。

Hightlight或许是一个生词，但是分析该词结构后，就能推测出其含义。它是由high
（高的，强的）和light（光线）两部分组成，合在一起便是“以强光照射，使突出”的意思。

Bull（公牛）和fight（打，搏斗）结合在一起，指一种在西班牙颇为流行的体育运动---斗牛。
综上所述，利用各种已知信息推测、判断词义是一项重要的阅读技巧。在实践中，我们可以灵活运用，综合运用上面提到的几种猜测技巧，排除生词的障碍，顺利理解文章的思想内容，提高阅读速度。

四级考试语法
一、大纲要求
最新《大学英语教学大纲》（1999）对四级语法的要求是：“巩固和加深基本语法知识，提高在语篇水平上运用语法知识的能力。”
二、四级语法结构与词汇考查内容
四级考试对语法词汇的考查与《大纲》要求是十分一致的。综观近年来的四级考试题，我们不难发现四级考试语法词汇部分是这样体现《大纲》的。
1．语法考题的涉及面宽
近年考题曾经考到：几乎所有词类，三种动词的非谓语形式，名词从句，形容词从句，副词从句，独立主格，一致，倒装，强调等基本语法知识。
2．语法考试的重点突出
语法考试的重点为内容庞杂较难掌握的项目，这些项目还反复出现如：虚拟语气，状语从句，定语从句，独立主格，情态动词。
3．具体考查重点为以上项目中的特殊用法，不常用的情况
1）虚拟语气的考点为：would rather＋that从句＋一般过去时：It is
vital／ necessary／ important／ urgent／ imperative／ desirable／ advisable／
natural／ essential＋that＋动词原形；It is time／about time／high time＋that＋一般过去时：proposal／suggestion＋that＋动词原形；lest＋that＋should＋动词原形；if
only＋that＋would＋动词原形。
2）状语从句的考点为：非if引导的条件状语从句，此类句子多用at
times，provided，so long as，in case，once等来替代if；由even if／so，now that，for
all等引导的让步状语从句；just／hardly…when引导的时间状语从句；more than，as…as，not so much
as，the same as，as much as等引导的比较状语从句。
3）独立主格结构多以逻辑主语＋分词的形式出现。
4）情态动词多与完成时形式连用。
5）定语从句重点考查介词＋关系代词（which）和as作为关系代词。
4．词汇的考查重点为
1）动词，名词与介词的搭配如：popular／patient＋with；yield／solution／adapt／transfer／access＋to；accuse／require＋of；charge＋for；under＋discussion等等。
2）习惯用法如：confess to／set about／be used to＋doing；
be supposed to／have／make sb．＋do等。
3）由同一动词构成的短语如：come，go，set，break等构成的短语。
4）单个的动词，抽象名词，形容词和副词多以近义词、同义词的形式出现。
5）介词短语在句中作状语如：in terms of；with the exception
of；in vain等，另外还应注意rather than，other than，such as，none／nothing＋but等词在考题中的出现。

四级考试完型填空
I. 了解完完型填空
完型填空是大学英语四级考试的一个组成部分。《大学英语四级考试大纲》指出：“完型填空部分的目的是测试学生综合运用语言的能力”，也即理解篇章和使用词汇和语法的能力。大学英语四级考试采用的完型填空题是：“在一篇题材熟悉、难度适中的短文（约200词）内留有20个空白，每个空白为一题，每题有四个选择项，要求考生在全面理解内容的基础上选择一个最佳答案，使短文的意识和结构恢复完整”。完型填空有如下特点：
1． 这项考试首先是测试考生对篇章的理解能力。虽然所给出的文章被抽去了20个词，但是整篇文章的内容仍是可以理解的。如果考生不能理解文章内容，就难以将正确的词填入文中。这也就是完型填空题与以单句形式考核词汇和语法的实体的根本区别。由此可见，考生在作题时必须时刻从上下文考虑，部应该只看到所添的词在短语或句子内是否可行。因此，在作题时最好将全文通读一下，了解了全文的意识以后在作题。
2． 这项考试还测试考生使用词汇和语法结构的能力。文章中留出的每一个空格要求填入一个词。考试大纲规定：“填空的词项包括结构词和实义词”。结构词（也称虚词，有代词、冠词、介词、连词、关系词等）主要是表示语法结构关系的，在选用结构词时便需要考虑在语法上是否恰当。对实义词（名词、形容词、数词、动词和副词）的选择既要看其意思用在句中是否得当，也要看它与其他词的搭配关系是否合适。
3． 首句一般没有空格，对于首句应该给与足够的重视，因为往往它就是中心句或是引导句，它的时态往往决定了全文的时态，所以多花一点时间看首句是值得的。
4． 然后以句子为单位一句一句地读，一句一句地填空，主要考虑语法、句意、逻辑和上下文联系。暂时填不出来的就空在那里。
5． 最后通读一遍，完成没有填的空，再看看填的顺不顺，不顺的地方大胆修改。
II. 了解词汇和语法结构
1． 语义问题，包括多义词、同义词、近义词、反义词等。英语中不少单词是多义词，而有的学生只知道它们最常见的一个或者两个意思，却不知道其它含义和在特定上下文中的引伸意义，这些都是在考试中容易考到的部分，也是容易出错的部分。
英语和汉语属于两个完全不同的语系，词语的含义不能完全对等，受汉语语意的干扰也是容易出错的原因之一。
2． 搭配问题，包括名词与形容词的搭配，动词与名词的搭配，动词、名词或形容词与劫持的搭配，动词与副词的搭配等。这些搭配纷繁复杂，千变万化，是产生词汇和语法错误的主要原因。这部分可以参阅本站的“词汇”部分。
3． 语法结构问题，主要是时态、语态、虚拟语气、非谓语动词、从句（包括连接词和关系代词或关系副词）等方面的问题。特别是，在特定的语境中应该选用何种时态或何种句子结构，往往是容易出错的关键。其次再看一看该部分在整个考试中的地位和时间分配。该部分共30题，一般40%考察短语和词汇，60%考察语法，每一题0.5分，共15分，时间是20分钟。从整体上看，占分比例不大，不象阅读理解那样占分多，而且每一题分值高（每题2分），但显然这15分我们也不能轻易放弃。现在的关键问题是：绝大部分学生在这一部分不是花的时间少了，而是多了。我们知道这一部分的考察主要靠的是知识和语感，不是说多琢磨一会儿就能答对，有时甚至恰恰相反。所以
每一题40秒的时间显然可以压缩，根据经验大约可以到30秒一题（当然这里不是要你去谓每一题计算做题时间），这样节省下来的时间可以用到分值更高的阅读理解中去。
III. 答题技巧。
1． 拿到题目，首先从语法角度考虑，因为语法考察要占70%以上（其中有与词汇考察相交部分），每一题必然是考某一个语法点，如果你在选择答案时已经知道考的是哪一个语法点，那么90%的可能这道题里做对了；如果你云里雾里，那只有祈祷了。
2． 从语法着手不行之后，在从句意着手，透彻理解句子的意思。
3． 总是第一反应，因为第一反应往往来自于语感。
4． 容易的熟悉的题要一跳而过，难题也不要多花时间，先猜一个答案，（以免后来时间紧，忘记），再在题目前做一个记号，等到检查时，再考虑。也许在做其它题目时，你会得到某种启示。
5． 掌握语法结构和规则，记住短语搭配，用熟悉的短语去推断正确的答案。

四级考试英译汉的应试
1．总的原则
（1）翻译时既要忠实于原文，又要符合汉语的习惯
（2）翻译不可太拘泥。拘泥、刻板的翻译因死守原文语言形式而损害了原文思想内容。好的译文应该是形式与内容的统一
（3）能够直译尽量不意译
（4）翻译的过程应该是先理解后表达。现就这一点作进一步论述。
2．结合英文写作特点对语言进行整体理解首先
英文段落的首句一般为topic sentence，然后展开说明。展开的写法有多种，可分可总，可下定义，可同义重复，可以代词复指等。利用这一技巧，先通读全文，便能更好的理解文章的意思，把握段与段之间的关系，在翻译时就能在上下文中确定词义，从而进行准确的翻译.其次，就具体而言：
（1）对词的理解可以从构思法、词的搭配关系和词汇之间的逻辑关系等方面入手
（2）对句子的理解可以从句子的内在逻辑、成分之间的从属关系和句子的语法组成等方面来实现
（3）对于长句，可采用如下译法：
顺译法：按照原文顺序译
逆续法：顺序与原文顺序相反
重复法：重复前一个词
分译法：一个句子分成几个部分来翻译
括号法：在译文后加括号进行解释和说明等
终合法：综合运用上述各种方法
3．表达
正确理解原文后，还要通过适当的翻译技巧用规范的汉语表达出来。这些技巧有：
（1）增词法。根据需要增加一些词语，如名词等
（2）减词法。根据汉语习惯，删去一些词
（3）肯否表达法。原文为肯定句，译成汉语是为增强修饰效果，可以译为否定句。
反之亦然
（4）变换法，名词译成动词或动词转译成名词等
（5）分合法。一个长句可分成若干部分来译，或者把原文的几个简单句用一个句
子表达出来。
（6）省略法：两种语言由于存在差异，表达时不可能总是对等，经常可以省略一
些词和句子成分，如英语中的冠词汉语里没有，译时可以省略
4．应试中还应注意的问题
（1）词的指代问题要搞清楚
（2）汉语知识的应用，如修辞等
（3）部分否定和否定重点。部分否定，如not
all; 否定重点，如I don't teach because I have knowledge. (我并非因为有知识才去教书)
。否定重点为 because, 而不是teach。
（4）虚拟语气。这种语法现象有时并非只表示字面意思，它经常有感情色彩，译时要注意。
（5）要认真地通读全文，根据上下文来确定词义、句意，切不可断章取义，望文生义。
5．核对原文
既要核对译文是否准确、通顺，还要注意关键词的采分点。同时不要忘记全文结构的表达，这部分还有0.5分呢。

大学英语四级考试十二句作文法
大学四级考试写作的评分依据是：文章切切题，条理清楚，语言准确和字数符合要求。所谓切题就是看你写的作文跑不跑题。所谓条理是每一段的议论的正反清楚，描述的时间正确。语言准确要求作文的语法词汇使用正确，符合英语表达习惯。四级作文的字数要求不少于100字。针对四级考试的作文要求我们提出十二句作文法，这里所说的十二句作文法不仅包括一般英文写作的方法而且包括一套行之有效的写作方法。它的具体内容有以下几点。
一 审题
我们拿到作文后第一件要做的事就是审题。审题的作用在于使你写作不跑题（如果跑题，条理和语言再好，也得不到及格分，甚至0分。）那末审题要审什麽呢？

审题就是要审作文的题材和体裁。因为什末样的体裁就会用什末样的题材去写。那末体裁包括那些呢？它包括议论文，说明文和描述文。从近些年看，四级作文不是单一的体裁，而是几种体裁的杂合体。例如：

很多人说这种类型的作文是议论文。这是片面的，因为，第一段要求写“...必要性”，这说明本段体裁是议论文；第二段要求写“...必备条件”，这说明本段要求写说明文；儿地三段要求写“...这样做”，这说明本段要求写描述文。所以在大多数情形下，四级作文是三种体裁的杂合体。
2．根据不同体裁确定写作方法
我们审题的目的就是根据不同体裁确定不同的写作方法。通过审题，我们可以看出四级作文大都是三段式。如上例第一段为议论体，第二段为说明体，地三段为描述体。而各种文体又不同的写作方式：
议论文；要有论点和论据，而且往往从正反两方面来论述。例如上面第一段的思路是：做合格大学生，会怎末样（这是从正面论述）；不能做合格的大学生，会怎末样（从反面论述）；所以我们要做合格的大学生（结伦）。
说明文：可以从几方面或几条来说明一个问题，就上作文而言，可以从方面（德智体）来说明合格大学生的必要性。
描述文：一“人”为中心描述一个“做”的过程。与上两段相比，本段的主语多为人称代词，他要与第二段相互应进行描述。
二 确定主题句
通过审题，我们知道该如何确定正确的写作思路。下边我们就谈如何些。第一部就是要写主题句。主题句是确保不跑题的前提，只有不跑题才有可得及格分。写主题句嘴保险的方法就是把中文提纲的各句译成英语。例如上述三段主题句分别为：
- It is very necessary to be a good university
student . （议论体的主题句）
- There are several respects of necessities to
be a good university student .（说明体的主题句）
- What I will do in the future is the following
.(描述体主题句)
如果要求句是英语就可以把它变成主题句，例如这样一篇作文：

这样的作文的要求句就可以扩充成主题句。扩充后三段的主题句分别为：
- It is very important to have good health .（将名词
importance变成形容词important）
- There are four ways to keep fit for me .（用
there be 句型）
- My own practices are the following .（采用原词）
三 确保文章条理清楚
保证不跑提示写作当中第一任务，第二个重要任务就是要做到条理清楚。对于议论文来说，正反面要清楚，对于说明文来说条理要清楚，对于描述文来说，谁干什么要清楚。就拿上例Good
health 来说，第一段保持正反面要清楚救应这样写：正面（With good health
,we can...），反面（Without good health ,we can
do nothing .We can’t do...）
为了使文章更具有条理性，我们可以用first(ly) second(ly) third(ly)等副词，他们可以是文章的条例性更加突出。作文是主观题，想得告分就必须引起老师的主意，老师的时间很短（每篇作文只有一两分钟就要阅完），所以我们在列调试最好不用:
To be with,... after that ,...And then, ... The next , ... The following
, ... As last ... 。因为用这样的词语不利于老师看出你作文的条理性。
四 保证作文符合字数要求的十二句作文法
考生一般都希望作文达到字数而又不至于写得太多，因为写得太多一方面暴露自己语言上的弱点，另一方面又会占用过多的时间。写得太多还易跑题，一个有效的方法就是十二句作文法。
我们知道，四级作文都是三段式。我们算一下，如果我们在每一段中写上四句，即主题句加两三句扩展句和一个结论句就可以了。这样全片在十二句左右，每一句十多个词，就又120-150个字。大家可以试图找一些作文题练一练。

复习应考前要注意
首先一定要纠正一个错误观念：复习就是练习。如果将复习陷于题海战术，效果是不会好的。在复习阶段大家要明确一下几点：
1． 不要指望你做的练习，考试中能考到，这几乎是没有可能的。
2． 练习是必要的，但切忌过多过滥。
3． 应该将重点放在对所做练习的分析上,分析错误的地方和原因,做练习和分析练习的时间比约为2:1。但在现实中，很多学生紫花了很少的时间在分析练习上，有的甚至从不分析，只管多做题，试想，这样盲目的练习，又怎能提高哪？
4． 在复习过程中，要善于总结出适合自己的应考方法，实现做一详尽的计划，哪些分我一定能拿到，哪些分要争取拿到，并且拿自己的弱点难点开刀。

我 学 英 语 的 “诀 窍”
王跃：南开大学88及国际经济系的学生，在近三年的大学英语学习中获得了令人瞩目的成果。1990年6月全国四级统考中获得满分100分，此后不久的TOEFL考试获663分的优异成绩，紧接着参加了GRE考试，获得2280分，在亚洲地区名列前茅，1991年1月参加全国英语六级统考，她是全国68573名考生中唯一获得满分100分的学生。
常有人问我：学英语有什么诀窍？说老实话，要想掌握一种语言，在缺乏必要的语言环境的条件下，实在没有什么捷径可走。概括起来，只有四个字：下苦功夫。我这绝对不是随便说说漂亮话而已。
凭我这几年学习英语的体会，只有日积月累，通过量变，才有可能实现质的飞跃。记得曾经有一段时间，在下了一番苦功夫之后，我仍感到自己的英语水平提高的太慢，于是就故意放松了几天。
谁知等到再从新开始学习时，才明显的感觉到自己退步了许多。从那以后，我就给自己制定了这样一条座右铭：“拳不离手，曲不离口”，持之以恒。
学好英语，兴趣很重要。正如爱因斯坦所说“兴趣是最好的老师”。学习英语的兴趣大大激发了我的求知欲。有人说，英语水平高是将来找到理想的工作甚至出国的资本。
这固然不错，但除此之外，我更觉得，英语是一扇窗口，他向我们展示的是一片广阔的天地，一派新奇的景象。当我能够用英语同外国朋友交流，了解国外的社会、历史、科学和文化，并取得第一手资料时，我才真正的领悟了掌握一种语言的妙处。
学好英语，一套科学的学习方法是必不可少的。由于个人实际情况不同，生搬硬套是行不通的。 但我相信：只要仔细体会，逐渐摸索，人人都可以创造出一套有特色并且行之有效的学习方法。在这里，我想同大家谈谈我在学习英语过程中的一些体会，以供参考。
尽管在中学时我的英语基础不错，但刚跨入大学校门的时候，我还是深深地感到了自己的差距。 要具备一定的听、说、读、写能力，首先要掌握五千到八千词汇。而作为一个高中毕业生，我当时的词汇量真是少得可怜。于是，我决定把迅速扩大词汇量作为主要突破口。
有的同学喜欢背大部头的词汇手册，而我觉得这样做，既枯燥，又不利于灵活运用。我于是就把着眼点放到了阅读上，词汇与阅读齐头并进，产生了事半功倍的效果。
为了迅速扩大词汇量我从一开始就选择一些当时对我们来说难度偏大的阅读材料。上千字的文章，通常会有二、三十个生词。这些文章涉及的范围很广，包括了多个领域的词汇。
我通常采取“两遍阅读法”，即第一遍着重训练阅读能力，第二遍着重扩大词汇量并培养语感。起初进行阅读训练时，我参考了《Active
Readers》这本书。 首先从提高阅读速度入手。集中精力阅读一篇长度适中的文章，记下起止时间，并计算单位时间的阅读量。迫使自己进行快速阅读，便成了我的习惯。
在第一遍阅读过程中，我将重点放在训练速度，掌握文章大意及基本结构上，并找出问题，以便进一步阅读时着重解决。 第二遍阅读的重点有两个：一是扩大词汇量。具体做法是：把文章再过一遍，查出生单词，记到小笔记本上，有时间就拿出来背。
背单词，我从不利用整时间。当学习别的内容效率较低的时候，对我来说，背单词最合适。每次背的时间不一定很长，贵在多次反复。 当时我使用的是英汉词典，因为我觉得英文解释不便于记忆。而在扩大词汇量的初期阶段了解词的释意最为重要。就这样，随着阅读量的增加，面的扩宽，我的词汇量也就突飞猛进了。
只是到了后来准备TOEFL、GRE等考试时，我才开始背词汇手册，并使用英文解释，以了解词的确切含义及使用的语言环境。 第二遍阅读的第二个重点在于培养语感。仔细地体会精彩的语言，留意词的使用以及搭配，对某些段落我常出声朗读，甚至背诵下来。
这样做，有利于加强语感；为写作打基础。通过这种两遍阅读法，所读内容在我头脑中留下的印象一般都很深刻，而且也提高了阅读材料的利用率。
我十分重视阅读材料的选择。不单从兴趣出发，相反，有意识地读一些自己不甚了解、甚至不大感兴趣的科普、历史、哲学等方面的文章。另外，针对不同的训练目的，我还选取了内容难度不同的阅读材料。
例如，进行快速阅读时，可以选择生词量较小、篇幅较短的文章；而重点在扩大词汇量、拓宽视野的阅读训练，就选择英美报刊杂志。此外，我还注重循序渐进，根据不同阶段自己英语水平的变化选择相应的阅读材料。
在听、说、读、写四个方面，我从“读”中受益无穷。通过有意识的大量阅读、一方面扩大了词汇量，另一方面培养了语感。而这两方面我认为是掌握一种语言的两大支柱。
至于听、说、写三个环节，我其实并没有经过什么特殊的训练。读的东西多了，词汇量足够大，语感足够强，只要多加练习，这三方面的能力也就自然而然的提高了。
在听、说方面，英文广播以及原版电影都是极好的传播媒介。另外，利用一切可能的机会同外国朋友交谈，并着力模仿，都颇有成效。至于写作，在阅读量还不足的初始阶段，我并不急于自己动笔写，而是学习、模仿一些经典篇章。
《新概念英语》第三册，还有精读课本中的一些精彩篇章，我都背过，并常利用早晨的时间大声朗读，或者收听广播。这样一来，耳朵里听到、眼睛里看到了地道的英语，久而久之，自己也就学会说、学会写了。
有人问我：怎样才能在各种英语测试中取得高分。实际上，我并没有什么专门的应试对策。在听、说，读、写能力逐步提高的基础上，只要稍微做一些模拟试题，了解各种测试特点，成绩就自然不会坏。
我认为，与其到考试前夕，搞题海战术，倒还不如踏踏实实、一点一滴的积累。 在我看来，学好英语的“诀窍”无非是苦干加巧干。因为我深信：功到自然成。
